These guidelines, produced by the Joint British Diabetes Societies Inpatient Care Group, have been developed to reflect the development in technology and reflect new practice in the management of diabetic ketoacidosis.

They are evidence based where possible but are also drawn from accumulated professional knowledge and consensus agreement. The guidelines are intended for use by any healthcare professional that manages DKA in adults.

A practical and easy to follow flow chart accompanies the advice which can be used in admitting departments and wards managing DKA.
