These guidelines, from the Joint British Diabetes Societies Inpatient Care Group, provide an overview of all aspects of the management of HHS in adults with diabetes.They are evidenced based where possible, and otherwise rely on consensus knowledge

Unlike the other common diabetes emergency, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), guidelines on the management of Hyperglycaemic Hyperosmolar State (HHS) in adults are uncommon and often there is little to differentiate them from the management of DKA. However, HHS is different and treatment requires a different approach.
