This report from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) outlines summary guidance and recommendations for safe nursing staffing in terms of skills mix and overall levels on inpatient wards for older people. 


It also makes recommendations about the importance of other factors such as senior nursing leadership, multidisciplinary professional input with feeding and hydration, and education and training in skills required to care for older people effectively. In addition, it highlights the need for good workforce performance development and the need for suitable metrics.
