The aim of the King’s Fund study was to obtain the views of women with recent birth experiences about the safety of the maternity care they received, to inform the King’s Fund inquiry into the safety of maternity services in England.

The key objectives of the study were: to provide an opportunity for women to identify their own areas of concern around safety, and possible solutions to these to explore in more detail the extent to which women are aware of and have concerns about factors related to safety (such as communication and quality of working relationships between staff).
